Rational Enterprise Named in Gartner Sample List of Information Governance Software Vendors

New York, NY – Rational Enterprise, a leader in Information Governance software, announced today that it has been included in Gartner’s August research article entitled “Information Governance Gets Real: Four Case Studies Show the Way Out of Information Chaos.”*

Rational Enterprise was referenced in the article’s sample list of Information Governance software vendors.

In the article, Gartner analysts recommend to:

Use a file analysis product (see “Market Guide for File Analysis Software” ) to get a picture of what is in your unstructured stores. Don’t get too granular. Make some simple decisions based on the age of the data, its type, and any ownership metadata you can find. Similarly with offline storage and databases, try and profile the data and once you have done so, take the shortest possible route to deletion of anything that does not have to be kept, due to law, regulation, litigation hold or a duty of care to history.

Rational Enterprise was previously included as a representative vendor in Gartner’s “Market Guide for File Analysis Software” for its Rational Governance software platform.

Other Gartner recommendations on the way out of information chaos include:

Break information governance down into departments, processes, systems and projects, focusing detailed governance efforts on the most strategic business information you have. ?
Start information governance as a joint undertaking between legal, IT and at least one interested business leader, and then slowly include other interested business units and departments. ?
Use tactical projects to illustrate enterprisewide concerns, to solve an immediate problem and to set the stage for more strategic information governance programs.
